FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can chiropractic help during pregnancy? +

Gentle chiropractic care can ease low back, hip and pelvic discomfort, support better posture as your body changes, and help with recovery after delivery. Always check with your obstetrician or midwife before starting any new treatment during pregnancy.

Does Dr. Basco treat workers’ compensation cases? +

Yes. Dr. Basco is an authorized treating physician who can coordinate medical care in workers’ compensation cases, and he treats work-related injuries, carpal tunnel, disc problems and pinched nerves.

Should I see a chiropractor after a car accident if I feel fine? +

Yes, get checked before you settle. Neck pain, headaches, numbness, stiffness and other problems can appear months after a collision. Dr. Basco can examine you, document your injuries and help with the paperwork that protects your rights.

Are there side effects from spinal decompression? +

Most patients have none. A few have had mild, short-lived muscle spasm. The table has emergency stop switches for both patient and doctor, and treatment ends the moment either is pressed.

Can I have spinal decompression after back surgery? +

In most cases, yes. Many patients have found relief with the DRX9000 after a failed back surgery. Recent fusions and metal hardware are exceptions.

How is decompression different from traction or an inversion table? +

Traction and inversion can lower the pressure inside a disc somewhat, but they also trigger the body’s protective muscle spasm. The DRX9000 raises force gradually to avoid that reflex and creates negative pressure inside the disc, which helps draw a herniation back in and lets blood and nutrients flow back to the disc.

How long does DRX9000 treatment take? +

A typical round is six weeks: daily sessions for the first two weeks, three times a week for the next two, and twice a week for the final two. Each session lasts 30 to 45 minutes. Most patients feel less pain within the first few sessions and notice a real difference by the second week.

Who is usually not a candidate for spinal decompression? +

Decompression usually isn’t suitable during pregnancy, or with hardware such as pedicle screws and rods, a lumbar fusion less than six months old, severe osteoporosis or unstable spondylolisthesis, a recent lumbar compression fracture or pars defect, metastatic, pelvic or abdominal cancer, an aortic aneurysm, a disc space infection, severe peripheral neuropathy, or paralysis.

Who is a good candidate for DRX9000 spinal decompression? +

Often a good candidate: herniated or bulging lumbar disc pain lasting more than four weeks; recurring pain after a back surgery more than six months ago; degenerated disc pain that hasn’t responded to four weeks of therapy; anyone told surgery is the only option who wants to try something else first; and adults 18 and over who can commit to the full protocol. Dr. Basco will tell you honestly whether you qualify.

What is the DRX9000? +

The DRX9000 is an FDA-cleared spinal decompression system. It targets the specific lumbar segments that are the source of your pain and gradually unloads pressure on the discs and spinal nerves, giving people with disc-related low back pain a non-surgical option.

What conditions does Dr. Basco treat? +

Neck and back pain, auto accident injuries, whiplash, work-related injuries, migraine and tension headaches, herniated and degenerative discs, sciatica, pinched nerves, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, carpal tunnel, pain due to stress, prenatal and postpartum discomfort, and golf and other sports injuries. Don’t see yours? Just ask.

What happens at my first chiropractic visit? +

You’ll talk through your health goals with Dr. Basco, followed by a comprehensive chiropractic exam with orthopedic, neurological and functional tests as needed. Care may then include gentle adjustments, Activator technique, neuromuscular re-education, heat, muscle stimulation and the hydrotherapy table.

How do I book a consultation? +
