The Importance of Alignment for Better Balance

Without balance, life would be exceedingly difficult

Fortunately, we innately know how to balance. But that doesn’t mean we should take such an incredible human process for granted- learning more about balance is a signal way of improving wellness, preventing injury and optimizing function. Balance keeps us upright and centered; it has implications in every movement we make. So how can we start paying more attention to balance to improve our wellbeing? Alignment is a good place to start. Read on to find out more.

One of the most important elements of balance is alignment

Alignment and balance issues go hand in hand. One of the first things we do when we see new patients is to perform a postural analysis as part of a full chiropractic examination. This analysis gives us key indicators as to your body’s alignment and balance. The fact is that misalignment breeds more misalignment: poor hip alignment or function creates a pull on the pelvis which can then pull the vertebrae of the lower back out of alignment. It then follows that muscular imbalance will develop, creating further pulls on the spine. If left alone, this systemic misalignment can cause serious degeneration and alter the curvature of your spine. The end result is that your body is less able to support the kind of stable, upright posture that breeds balance.
